Zehnder's of Frankenmuth
Lunch & Dinner: Sunday - Thursday: 11:00am - 9:00pm, Friday & Saturday: 11:00am - 9:30pm
Open table was great. The line of people was enormous. We walked in, have them our name, and had a table in less than 5 minutes. We love open table
Food was great. Had the family style chicken with all the fixings. Everything was delicious and for all you can eat, it’s great that you can take food home with you as well.
Had a specialty drink: hot spiced apple cider. It was strong and tasty!
Absolutely love open table. We were taken back at our reservation time. Which is great since a Saturday afternoon is a busy time and LONG walk up waits!
The chicken was VERY dry. No dark meat just 2 legs and the rest dry white meat. The stuffing had hard burnt spots on it like I got the bottom of the pan. The squash was cold. My waitress Heather was awesome. She made the experience worthy. Overall the service was excellent, the atmosphere was nice, the food left a lot to be desired.
This is always a stop for us when we are in the area. This time it was our 53 Anniversary which made it special to have dinner at Zehnder's. Our server was friendly and helpful and was on point with our dinner. Thank you for making our special occasion another great time.
The Chicken Noodle Soup was straight out of a can of Campbell's, the buttered noodles would've been better used in a homemade soup than served alone, and the chicken was seasoned and tasted more like fish. However, our waitress was phenomenal, and the cranberry/orange sauce was so good I had two helpings. With a bit of tweaking of the food, this place could go from "so-so" to phenomenal. I think they've let things slide, resting on their fame to make up for a few bland dishes.
My chicken lunch should have been hot, it was just warm, I should have sent it back. My friend's pot pie was very poor, mostly dough. Poor value. We've been there many times and had a better experience. It was disappointing.
We love to go to Frankenmuth for our free birthday dinners!!
Not clean. Bad smell. Food quality gone downhill, big time. Slow, terrible service.
The dinner was delicious, but we had to wait 25 minutes past our reservation time to be seated.
Great comfort food. Large amount of food for great value. Don't let the lines full you, they can move lots of people in a short time. Well worth the drive to Frankenmuth.
This a ‘must do’ experience. Good for family style casual dining with friends.
The wait was expected. Such a huge crowd waiting for an amazing dinner!
Excellent as always So much to eat! A Really an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon
Great birthday dinner for my wife. Food was excellent as always. Drove from Lansing the foods that good.
Zehnders is a staple in Frankenmuth. Go for the chicken dinner and enjoy every course. It is consistently good. Better to visit when not peak hours if you want to avoid crowds and lines. We go several times a year and are rarely disappointed with food or service.
The food was delicious, the service was good, the staff were well organized, the atmosphere was delightful and the experience was unique.
We met for a fall family meal. Our server Heather was amazing. The buffet had something for every family member. Even my 4 year old nephew enjoyed his chicken strips. We are going to come again!
I just wish I knew how to reserve space for the Buffet, cuz thats where we wanted to go.
Best thing they did was open table reservations. I would have waited an hour plus for a table
Went to Zenders for my wife's and my birthday family style chicken diners. We were done with our morning shopping, so we took a chance and asked if we could come in early. The answer was yes. We waited less than 5 minutes and were taken to a table. Our server was excellent and took good care of us. I'm glad we belong to the rewards program that Zender's offers. See you next October.
Pricy, but if you come hungry it is well worth the trip. Service was excellent. Recommend reservations if going on a Sunday for lunch buffet.
Good for a once in awhile visit, would not eat there often if close by. Pretty pricy for a chicken dinner, but tasty and ok when visiting frankenmuth.
My wife and I went here for a special dinner while on vacation in Frankenmuth. Although our waitress was amazing not even she could make up for the food. The chicken tasted like the only seasoning was salt and the other food wasn’t much better.
Love love love Zehnders! I’ve never had a bad meal or a bad time there. Love the bakery and shops downstairs as well as the family style dining upstairs.
We went to celebrate birthdays. It was very busy and I was very impressed with how smoothly and quickly people were seated and waited on. Our server was the best. The food was hot, fresh and flavorful.
As always the food was fantastic. The fried chicken and the wiener schnitzel can’t be topped. Homemade mashed potatoes, butter noodles, dressing all are delicious.
Add a Haufbrahouse Dunkle and a wine for my spouse and you have a perfect meal
Probably our worst visit here.
It was 49 degrees outside and there was ice cold air blowing on us in dining room - asked to have it adjusted and waitress said she didn’t think they could.
Waitress wasn’t particularly friendly or attentive.
We asked if gizzards were available and she said yes, but didn’t tell us there would be an extra charge for them. When we received the bill and I questioned it, she said “I thought you knew...” How would we know if she didn’t tell us??
Chicken was warm, not hot, with two tiny wings as part of our order. Sides weren’t as good as usual - we generally finish the potatoes, noodles and squash but had leftovers of all 3 today.
There was a bug floating in my drink and I showed it to the waitress. You would think that she would have a manager visit the table, but no...
Our reservation specified a request to be seated in the quieted possible area (my husband is hard of hearing). There were children at 3 of the tables closest to us which, as we typically find, does NOT lend itself to being a quiet area. One of the children was shouting and climbing around during the whole meal and and in the first 5-10 minutes, 3 of the 6 adults at the table told her “ssshhhh” six times.
We had free birthday dinners available here and at the Bavarian Inn and felt we made the wrong choice.
Always a great time in Frankenmuth. Nothing fancy but great food. Great service. Zehnders is a favorite stop.
The dressing was terrible: green/gray color. The chicken was bland and nothing memorable.
We travel to Frankenmuth frequently and always have dinner in the Cow Path Room. Its a small room with five booths. Quite quaint and cozy and very personal service. Perfect for our anniversary. Food was excellent too.
The purpose for the 4 star rating is due to the host and manager. We were a party of 3 about to be seated next to a large group celebrating. Actually, both rooms were full of large celebrating parties. The impatient and disgusted look we received nearly made us leave. When the manager arrived I tried to explain that large groups like that made it very difficult for us to have any conversation as my husband wears hearing aids and my mother of 85, doesn't hear so well, either. The manager totally ignored me. We were treated as an inconvenience.
Thankfully, we had a delightful server and our dinner was amazing.
Waitress very pleasant and food excellent reservation was on time and great feature
My wife and I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The food was very good, although they did not have prime rib that I wanted. Its only served on weekends.Had to order something else. The menu did not specify that.Other than that,we enjoyed our dinner.
Good but pricey. Wish we always didn't have to sit so close to others. Hard to have a conversation while people you don't know are practically sitting right with you.
The chicken dinners are worth he 2 hour drive. We enjoy the variety of guests. The service is usually very good; the staff/servers work very hard to make sure you enjoy your meal. My only complaint is that the coffee was consistently cool. Somehow it needs to be hotter when served at the table. The five of us enjoyed our meal and the ambiance of the restaurant.
A good place to have lunch before shopping in Frankenmuth
Have been to zenders many times. Drive all the way from Canada to eat there. Excellent
I am formerly from the Saginaw, MI area and had visited Frankenmuth and Zehnder's often in the past. I now live in North Las Vegas, NV and make a yearly trip to the Frankenmuth area that always includes a stop to Zehnder's and of course their bakery and shops. I sometimes order online products and have never been displeased with the accuracy, speed, and most of all quality of those goods. Our service in the dining area this trip was superb! If you are there on a Sunday, I highly recommend trying the buffet. I also recommend signing up for the Zehnder's Rewards. You will not be disappointed in the benefits.
The level of noise was so great that we couldn’t have a conversation at our table. Plus, kids were running everywhere!
We could not eat the slaw because it had onion in it.
But our server was wonderful! Enough so that we are dining there again tonight - but selecting different dinners!
We were anxious to try this restaurant because we had heard of its reputation. However, we were disappointed in the chicken. It really didn't have any flavor to it. The meat was rather dry. The experience was fun, and the waitress was wonderful. We would pass on the chicken next time.
