Zen Japanese Restaurant
The food was the very best ever. The ebi dumplings were unbelievably good. The sauce was tangy and yummy.
The prawn tempura was excellent. The batter was light and they were so fresh.
The dynamite roll was again freshly made and so good.
The service is so welcoming and extremely efficient.
Lauren is without a doubt the very best. She remembers everything you ever ate.
Her lemon pie is actually better than my mother’s, which says a lot!!
This is a restaurant that everyone should visit.
The most amazing Sushi in all of Vancouver!!
As usual the service is second to none.
When we arrived they were having trouble with the heating and were waiting for the repair man to come.
The hostess offered us blankets and free hot miso soup.
It really was not cold.
The prawn tempura is so good. The ebi dumplings are the best especially the sauce. The Dungeness crab rolls are excellent.
Always such a lovely experience and such delicious seafood! Would recommend to anyone
The food was so pretty and so delicious!
We were having a going away dinner and it was a wonderful place for a family celebration!! We will be back!
Love Zen. Really fresh good food. Great atmosphere. One of our favourite restaurants in west Vancouver.
The server was very knowledgeable about the food and really helped us make perfect selections for everyone at the table. Very fresh seafood - wow the best we have ever had. We will be back soon!
We went for ‘dine out’!
It was outstanding!
Wonderful as always!! We have been dining at Zen for over 20 years. The renovations are beautiful!
Service and food 5 stars!!
Always love Zen and the quality of food! Superb fresh fish. Excellent service
Beautifully prepared sushi and very fresh and tasty. Good quality fish. Menu has lots to choose from and quite a few house special rolls. Modern decor. Nice deck for summertime dining.
Fabulous meal!! Great suggestions from server.
All the staff were very friendly.
Wonderful special rolls and and fantastic sushi.
Once again the food was superb. The food is freshly made and so delicious.
The prawn tempura is the best you will find anywhere in the lower mainland.
The service is second to none. It is prompt, professional and knowledgeable.
We are always looking for new restaurants to try on the north shore. We had avoided Zen only because we had the idea that it was a traditional sushi place and not quite 'special' enough for our weekly date night. However, when I read the reviews and realized it was one of the few north shore restaurants with any view of the water, we thought we would give it a try. We loved it! You could choose traditional maki roles if you wanted but we experimented with a popcorn shimp roll and jalepeno roll - both were fantastic (although make sure you have a glass of water handy with the jalepeno roll! And lots of other unique options.
We will definitely be back - and we recommend reservations - it was packed.
The food was great and the service fair. Mother's Day special dessert lemon meringue pie was very 'specially' priced at $10 a slice, which was not worth it.
We were here on the Mother's Day. The food was great but the service was slow. I would expect the food to be ready faster as there were minimal customers there that day. My family especially love the in house sauces that came with the Trio dish. Will come another time to try out other things
If I could give more stars to describe my meal I would!!! AMAZING! Oysters were fresh, as was everything else! Service outstanding.. Not to mention the BEST coconut cream pie for desert! Can't wait to come back!
The sauces they make are beyond imagination and be sure to order dessert you will be delighted! I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a wonderful night out.
So many choices of Japanese restaurants in Greater Vancouver. We were in a rush: Zen is a pleasant surprise for being efficient and very fast. The food was clean and fresh. The calming view contrasted the busy restaurant. Good experience for our needs.
we booked the private room again for dinner saturday eve (great to keep our young children separate from disturbing other diners ;) sushi was outstanding.. "torch toro" is a must try- along with zen's freshly grated wasabi. key lime pie for dessert was the perfect way to end the meal!!
Great find, never would've gone if they weren't part of Dine Out Vancouver,
One of there really odd, sushis had mayo on it, which was really odd, and some of the sashimi, were stuff i never knew wouldve worked together
First time here and very impressed with the food! We'll be back!
great spot for ladies lunching, window table with an ocean view. no one does salmon sashimi better than zen- AMAZING! we had some incredibly inventive rolls by NOBU, and dessert that was to die for!!
Booked the private room for NYE.. Dinner was amazing (as always!! NEVER disappoints!!) ️we made early Rez (as we dined with our younger children .. Private room is great for the kids. Sushi/service was impeccable.. Already dying to go back!
Zen is always a great spot to go if you are in the mood for some high-end sushi and a great atmosphere. Staff is very friendly.
Booked for party of 8 on our way up to whistler, as it was the perfect spot to grab a bite before hitting the sea to sky. Service and food was incredible! Always a treat, and always can't wait to return! Salmon sashimi out of this world!
Always consistently great.
The Hamachi Peak is memorable.
The butter Yaki is marvellous.
The popcorn shrimp is delicious.
The sushi and sashimi the best we have ever had....the rice is right and the nori is crisp.
A cozy restaurant with a sushi bar and booths. A bit of a wait but the hostess kindly offered us some saki while waiting and service was great. The food however was the best, a variety of different types of sushi, not your standard sushi fare and everything was very tasty. We went with a group on so it was a great deal. It is a bit more pricey then your standard sushi restaurant but will worth it.
Small, Quaint, and very busy!!! Food is fantastic, service great!!! I highly recommend making reservations!!
The freshest seafood prepared to perfection followed by the most amazing dessert capturing the best that August in Vancouver has to offer. A truly perfect meal - not to mention service that was impeccable.
We loved lunch at Zen.
Food and service were both fantastic.
The food here is always freshly prepared by the chefs who are visible at the counter.
Every item was absolutely delicious.
The prawn tempura is to die for.
The special dessert is always a culinary delight.
The friendly and efficient service here is second to none.
Love the food. Great staff. The decor is like a scientific experiment in making noise as echoey as possibly. There isn't one quiet table in the restaurant. Japanese restaurants use fabrics and wall partitions and organic materials to dissipate noise. It's intrinsic to the Japanese dining experience The Zen is like a ball pit at Ikea. I'd come there weekly but ...it's just so NOISY. They tried hard to get me a good seat but ...glass/ceramic/more glass/echo/echo/clank.
The meal was so tasty I wanted to lick the plate to ensure I got every drop of the amazing sauces they drizzle with perfection and every bit was a delight. The service was fantastic - very knowledge about the menu and helped us put together the perfect combination of the best Japanese food we have ever had - you must go here.
Great experience as usual. Perfect spot for a casual evening dinner when you feel too lazy to cook at home
This is our very favourite Japanese restaurant in the lower mainland
The service is very friendly and extremely efficient.
The food is always so fresh and so good.
It never disappoints.
From the time the hostess greets you to when you leave and the chefs behind the open counter thank you for coming you feel so welcome.
This is a must for anyone who loves good service and great food
