Disappointing experience for my family and I at the Sunday Brunch on Christmas Day. We were extremely excited to spend a quiet afternoon at Banff Springs hotel for a special occasion. We chose an afternoon reservation for brunch. Here are a few of those disappointing experiences. 1. Although there were plenty of tables free and available for the entire time (2:00 pm, last seating for the brunch), we were offered the smallest table that could hardly fit 2 people. We were party of 4. 2. Serving sets such as cutleries, napkins, glasses were missing and there were never fully provided. 3. No water was offered and there was no room for extra glasses. 4. All roasting stations food were cold and dry. 5. Pastas were old and dry. 6. The food in kids friendly buffet was so stale and cold. My children didn’t have any food even the fries and pizzas were not eatable. 7. We found mold on a few items including blueberries and blackberries (unacceptable, really) 8. Some desserts (including tiramisu) were old and the ingredients were separating to watery substance, as if they were sitting outside for a long time. 9. Our bill didn’t provide any details, just the amount from the machine. 10. Some seafood, including crab legs seemed and tasted as if they were sitting outside (Although on ice) but nevertheless outside all day. We understand that our reservation was for the last seating of the day but we never expected stale and old food being served at the last seating. Overall we had a terrible and disappointing afternoon. We had to go to a fast food to get some late lunch for children.

We were there for Mother’s Day Brunch for the first time in five years. After raving about how good this brunch was to my family in years past I booked the whole family in. The best thing about this brunch was the location!!! The price was outrageous, $85 per person is okay, but racking on another $20 per person for tax and tip was outrageous as the service was way below what I have come to expect from the Banff Springs. We were clearing our own plates and putting them on the empty table next to us. We waited at least a half hour for the tea to arrive!! Was not impressed. Many of the dishes were not hot enough, in particular the soup was lukewarm at best. One of my favorites from years past was the lamb and there was no lamb this year. The seafood was pretty good, the fresh cooked mussels were a very nice touch. The salad selection was abysmal. My father who is a celiac only wanted ice cream for dessert and they were out of vanilla, his favourite. To top it off we paid $40 for parking. We will not be coming back for this brunch, I hear the Rimrock does a great job.

Banff Springs is always a lovely brunch for an occasion. Our service this time was not exceptional and I would like to see at least a few gluten free items. It would also be nice to see some fruit or lighter items. Beautiful spread but heavy!

This is a special destination for Easter Brunch. The food, service and ambiance was very good. The extra, unsolicited, deliveries of chilled shrimp, including the one after dessert, were a little excessive.

This was supposed to be a festive buffet for Christmas Dinner. We couldn’t get an earlier table, so waited until 8.45pm, we wish we hadn’t. Not sure where the festive was but apart from a few snowmen the room wasn’t very festive. The food was terrible and looked like it has been sitting out for hours and the roast element of the buffet was again very poor. The roast beef was so rare that blood was dripping off the serving dish. The turkey was very dry and the potatoes weren’t roasted but new potatoes put in the oven for a few minutes. Such a disappointment for our family Christmas meal. It was also very very very expensive.

Very nice atmosphere and the food excellent. Very wide range of dishes and cooked to perfection. Busy evening and felt a little rushed by waitress who presented the bill the minute we sat down with dessert...even though there were plenty of other tables free and no line up.

Xmas Day Dinner: 1st Sitting - Quickly run out of turkey & pork and not replenished . . .this is Xmas! - oysters stale & dry - hot seafood excellent - labeling misplaced & somewhat confusing - wine selection poor - no obvious explanation as to how some displays were to be utilized - there should have been other options for fresh fruit than simply squering pieces for dipping - anything wrong with a goose at Xmas? - this was the reason we cancelled our brunch reservation for Boxing Day - we felt the Hotel had fallen far short of the quality we've experienced many times in the past years.

Buffet was comparable to the Wynn hotel in Vegas, smaller but food quality was strong. Overall staff was very good. Server we had was displeased with the amount of tip we left and didn't hide it. We felt it was reasonable since he got us one set of drinks and cleared one set of plates. We or others did the rest. The overall experience was overpriced at $85 per person. I would likely go back as a special occasion but not often due to the price. After spending that plus parking plus other costs at the Hotel I didn't appreciate the attitude of the serve, left a bad taste for the evening.

While the service is warm and friendly, the food offerings are just odd. They seem basic, but they all had a strange twist that left out entire group with full plates and a large dinner check. Total misfire which is too bad given the wonderful hotel experience. Skip this spot for one of the many other offerings at the Fairmont.

This is the first time I didn't enjoy the Sunday brunch there. Not sure if that was because we were the last seating or the quality of food went down. There was not that much to choose to compare to what I was used to dine there for the last 20 years. Really disappointing, especially after paying $49.00 plus per person. The dessert table was not great either.

Went for brunch with Santa- delicious offerings replenished frequently, great service, lovely touches for the holiday season. Nearly everything we tried was very tasty, nothing was bad (a few things not our favourite). Totally out of the ordinary dishes as well as perfectly executed classics. Very accommodating for our daughter. Santa and Mrs. Claus aesthetically legit and friendly.

We have been going for brunch at the Banff Springs for many years now as part of our Christmas tradition but I think this may be the last. Service was excellent but the food was a big disappointment this year both in quality (overdone meat, cold food) and quantity as it seemed there were fewer choices than previous years (specifically seafood options). We expect more for our money than we got this year and it’s a shame as it’s always been something we’ve looked forward to at this time of year.

Service was GREAT! Wonderful staff. It’s a shame that “brunch food” is so expensive. It would have been fine if the quality was better. Unfortunately the majority of food was very bland. So tasteless. The only thing that was up to par was the bread pudding with caramel sauce. That was delicious and the highlight of the meal. The tiramisu broke my heart! My favourite dessert that tasted like nothing. Tell your chefs not to be afraid of flavour. Especially if you’re charging so much for food that Dennys could have cooked better for a 1/4 of the price. I am hoping to try dinner there and hope it’s better than the brunch. Fingers crossed!

Great food overall and the service of Janelle was exceptional. I left a $ 20 tip for her after she authorized my Credit Card but for some reason that amount was not charged and I feel really bad she did not get it.

We were seated near the window which offered a beautiful view of the mountains and our service was amazing. The beef tenderloin was delicious but the Mac and cheese with salmon and prawns ok and I don't know that it's worthy of being on the menu with the other items. The cheesecake was delicious.

We had Sunday brunch and Monday breakfast at the Bow Valley Grill. Both were less than memorable. Buffet food quality was mediocre to poor. Table drink service was good. I suggest asking for a menu and ordering from their menu, rather than getting the buffet.
